Barrington 220 school district of Barrington Illinois is a sought after school district. As real estate professionals, schools can create a problem for us. Buyers have questions about schools and we cannot give answers. Of course many of us have children that went to Barrington 220 so we do have some inside knowledge.
In the interests of making this post as fair as I possibly can and with full disclosure: My eldest son did not attend Barrington 220, he completed all his school years at a Christian School. My youngest son attended Barrington 220 High School for his junior and senior year after finishing grades Kindergarten -10 at the Christian School. He did not finish and left school in April, just 2 months shy of graduating. (A parents worst nightmare, right?) He got his GED at Lake County College in June and 4 years on has just graduated with his degree.(All’s well that ends well 🙂 )
Let’s proceed with giving you as much information as I can about Barrington 220, because I know it’s what parents want. It’s likely I won’t be able to answer everything but here goes.

Are Barrington 220 Schools Good
This is the most common question home buyers want answered by Realtors and it’s one we cannot answer. Why Not? Simply because how every parent measures a school is different. Some want high report cards while others may seek gifted children programs or advanced classes, others may be looking for a great sports program. You may be looking for something else, perhaps low child to teacher ratio, best performing teachers and how does a parent measure that scenario? Answer. It’s based on opinion. And that’s why Realtors cannot answer the question.
That said it isn’t hard to confirm that Barrington 220 has a good reputation. It is constantly reported as a respected and high achieving school district. How is that measured? I have to assume it’s based on report cards for the schools. It’s likely one of the only ways a parent can really measure a school’s achievements. For example the ACT scores for the high schools soon to be graduates, measures test results, and gives an average for the students at the school. In 2013 for Barrington 220 that average was 24.2. That compares to the state’s average for that year of 20.3. If you want more information about ACT scores they are published each year in the Chicago Tribune online. Report cards for all Barrington schools can be found at their web site.
Barrington 220 Boundaries
Nothing is set in stone! It’s a warning I always give to home buyers because boundaries sometimes get changed. If you are considering buying in Barrington I always recommend buyers have a chat with the district office. I cannot tell you the Barrington 220 boundaries will or won’t change, I have no idea, so go to the source. That said, at the time of writing Barrington 220 has a boundary map published here, with links to boundary maps for the elementary schools and middle schools.
The Health of Barrington 220
Another way in which parents might assess a school is it’s financial standing. Barrington 220 does a great job of letting parents and future parents know about their financial health. Read many reports here including teacher salaries, often another indicator of that “Good” you are looking for.
The Reputation that Precedes Barrington 220
It’s true, as far as this school district is concerned. Buyers come to buy in Barrington IL because they want their kids to go to Barrington 220. How does that happen? Simply that their reputation is great and well known. Buyers from Chicago pick Barrington 220 among other respected school districts. Buyers from other states seem to know so much about the schools before I even talk with them. Barrington 220 has a solid reputation and I am sure put forth a lot of effort to keep it that way.
