Time to peak at Barrington Hills home sales for the first quarter of 2014. The last chart I published was for 2013 and it’s a great benchmark to use as we progress through the year and for those that didn’t see it, here it is again.
Barrington Hills Home Sales 2014 January Through March
What do you expect? Given the awful winter we experienced and the late start to a warm up the spring home selling season has not yet kicked into gear you might be as surprised as I am. Let’s compare the following data to the same time last year.
- Number of homes sold – 16. More than double.
- Average marketing time – 186 days. Less than half.
- Average sold price $810,942. $836,629 in 2013. A little down.
- Average listing to sale price ratio – 89%. 91% in 2013. Also a little down.
Compared to last year we’ve got more sales in the first quarter with a marketing time reduced considerably. The shortening marketing time is continuing the trend seen in 2013.

The inventory has declined and we are waiting for some spring listings to emerge. For now you can choose from 83 available homes. Prices range from $169,000 to $14,900,000. The current median asking price is $1,400,000.
