Having lived in Florida for a year, the thing I miss the most is my in-ground swimming pool. Of course the temperature in Florida was warm enough year round to jump in for a swim. Our pool was heated as was the adjoining Jacuzzi and also covered with a mesh structure to keep leaves and animals out so cleaning was not too big of an issue. There were also many local pool shops so a weekly water test for PH balance was easy as was buying chemicals as needed.
Here in Barrington swimming pools for the most part have to be in-ground, there are very few places that will permit an above ground pool. Our weather dictates that most outdoor pools are used for about 3 to 4 months a year. For that reason they can be a detraction upon re-sale of homes, some buyers just do not want them. In South Barrington, Barrington Hills and Inverness, pools can be indoor, an integral part of the property and of course heated. Now they are a year round feature.
There are a few pool companies in the Barrington area that can build you a pool and service it for you which would include a start up and close down.
If you are in the market to buy a home in the Barrington and Inverness area and want a swimming pool, consider first if you want to inherit an existing one, build a new one or if you want it indoor or outdoor. Each have pros and cons.
