The Barrington Area Historical Society has documented the first homes in North Barrington at 156 Kimberly (known as the Kimberly House c. 1857), 150 Old Barrington Road (c. 1860) and the Kuhlman House at 615 Miller (c. 1875). The original subdivision in the Honey Lake area was called Biltmore Country Estates and included the Biltmore Country Club. On October 31st 1959, area residents voted to incorporate into the Village of North Barrington. This was the same day as Lake Barrington’s incorporation into a village; they were named the sister villages.
Located in Lake County Illinois, the Village of North Barrington occupies just about 5 square miles of land space and is now home to 3,047 residents. In 1980 the Wynstone community began development as both a golf course and neighborhood of luxury homes in a gated environment. In 1992 the village built a new village hall.
