Criswell’s who were in the confectionery business owned a large portion of the land in Lake Barrington a small village in Lake County Illinois. It was sold to Robert Bartlett in 1946, including a parcel which is now known as the Lake Barrington Shores development. Bartlett’s death ultimately led to the sale of the land that is now Lake Barrington Shores, he was resistant to the idea but his heirs were not. This condo and townhome development was built from the mid 1970’s to late 1990’s. View Lake Barrington Shores.
The remaining land space is a mixture of planned unit neighborhoods, conservation and wetland areas, and a small commercial area home to a new Canlan Sportsplex center. There’s some water space including “Lake Barrington”.

There are very limited waterfront homes but the premium location aside The Fox River may well be worth waiting for! Although not known as equestrian land the odd horse property pops up for sale.
