I separated the average market times for homes sold in Barrington IL because there are some extreme numbers for the condo sales. Just look at January and June to see what I mean. I didn’t want this to skew the average times for single family homes. As is typical for our area the summer months had the most activity. Average marketing times for single family homes and attached homes were in fact very similar if you remove the two spikes. Generally speaking they trended down as the year went by.
We are off to a great start in January 2014 with 21 homes sold. Average market time for those homes was 120 days for single family and 57 days for condos/townhomes. Today is February 18th and so far this month we have had only 5 sales but there’s always a lot of closings towards the end of the month. As the year progresses it will be interesting to see if sales are up in 2014 compared to 2013.
