I am often asked if Lake Barrington Shores is either a senior living community or an active adult community. By senior living I am assuming you mean assisted living where there are staff on hand to help the residents. By active adults I assume you mean a dedicated 55+ community where only residents of either 50 or 55+ can live. The answer to both questions is no, Lake Barrington Shores is neither an assisted living nor an active adult community. Residents both tenants and owners come from all walks of life and all ages are allowed. Therefore children are allowed.
If you are looking for assisted living, Lake Barrington Shores will not be the right location for you to live. Options open to you in the Barrington area are, which offers independent living, assisted living, short term stays, and more. They are located at 22320 Classic Ct. Lake Barrington, IL 60010 or The Garlands located at 1000 Garlands Lane, Barrington, IL 60010 which offers the same services. Both are located off Route 14. The Garlands is in Barrington Village Center.
If you are looking for an Active Adult Community there is only one in the Barrington zip code. Regency at the Woods of South Barrington offers luxury ranch homes but you’ll need at minimum about $600,000 to buy into this neighborhood. Other Active Adult Communities can be found in Huntley, Mundelein, Hoffman Estates, Elgin to name just a few. Many are Del Webb neighborhoods.
Lake Barrington Shores may not be either assisted living or active adult but it is still a sought after location for lifestyle living. Many active adults will choose this neighborhood because the features and benefits offered here check off many of your wants and needs.

- Budget friendly with prices starting at $150,000.
- Different home styles – not cookie cutter.
- In Barrington area.
- Barrington Schools.
- All exterior maintenance provided including property maintenance.
- Waterfront, golf course, forestry locations.
- Golf Club.
- Sailing on lake, fishing, boating.
- Glorious views.
- Slow pace of life but close to all amenities.
Whatever it is you are looking for, Lake Barrington Shores is a popular neighborhood and sales are much stronger now the market has come back.
