If you’re not local you might want to know a little more about our area to determine if this neighborhood is in the right location for you to buy new construction. As a resident of Lake Barrington it’s easy for us to give the complete picture to help you. Here are some FAQ’s to get you started.
The Enclave is situated inside Barrington School District 220.
Jump Forward To:
Current schools are:
- Barrington High School
- Barrington Middle School Station Campus
- Roslyn Road Elementary School.
Our school district is sought out by many buyers looking to move from Chicago. Local residents moving usually want to keep their children in the schools until graduation. However only you can decide if the schools are what you want for you children. An easy way to assess part of that is to view the report cards. You can do that right here.
Shopping Near The Enclave
Located about a mile away is the small village of Fox River Grove. You can see the location on the map below, just a 3 minute drive from The Enclave west along Route 22. As a Lake Barrington resident it’s where I do most of my daily and weekly shopping. The stores include:
- Large Jewel Osco grocery store with fresh bread, salad and food bars.
- Walgreens Pharmacy
- Chase and BMO Harris Bank
- Fast food including McDonalds Jimmy Johns, Subway
- Panera Bread restaurant
- Post Office
- Liquor Store
- Auto Zone and Pep Boys for car service or repair needs
- Ace Hardware
There’s a lot more in Fox River Grove but this will cover many of the things families need.
Big Box stores are not that far away either. Choose to head into Lake Zurich along Route 22, Barrington along Route 14 or north to Cary and Crystal Lake along Route 14. You’ll fine Home Depot, Walmart and many other large known name stores.
Your Medical Needs
Every now and then we all need to get to the Doctor or Dentist, or as needed a Hospital ER or for surgery. Locally to The Enclave is Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, a trauma hospital with a helipad. It’s under going some size-able expansion right now. There’s also plenty of choice of Doctors nearby in the grounds of the Hospital and in Fox Glen just up the road before you get to Fox River Grove. Fox River grove also has dentists and Doctors.
Perhaps if you work at the hospital you might consider moving into the Enclave at Heritage Estates?
Commuting from Lake Barrington
If you will be working locally Route 14 and Route 22 make it easy to travel 30 minutes or so to many of the employment hubs. Schaumburg, Libertyville etc are about 30-35 minutes. If Chicago is where you work, Fox River Grove has a Metra Station and the line arrives about 65 minutes later at Ogilvie Transportation Center at Madison and Canal Streets. The alternative is to use Barrington Metra Station but it will take you longer to drive there than to travel the extra 5 minutes on the train! There is a parking lot at both stations.
If driving is more your style you’ll be able to reach I-90 either by heading south along Barrington Rd or by going east a little and jumping on Route 53 south. It will take longer and traffic can be heavy. Most people living in Lake Barrington travel no longer than 40 minutes to work.
O’Hare airport is the closest major airport with American, United, British, Cathay and many other flight companies. As a major hub you can fly direct to almost anywhere in the world. Local we have an executive airport at Wheeling called Chicago Executive Airport or Palwaukee.
Leisure in Lake Barrington
If you enjoy nature walking is the best in our area. At the Village of lake Barrington there are two walking trails set in the Grassy Lake Forest Preserve. Walk one or both, take the binoculars and look out for deer too. Dogs are allowed but the path is gravel, no bikes etc. At time of writing a third trail is being added and will be ready sometime in 2015.
In winter the kids can now go sledding down the new hill at Freir farm. or year round sports the place to go is the Canlan Sportsplex. Formerly call the Lake Barrington Field House you play sports or get fit, or both. Activities include Dodge-ball, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball and more. All indoors! Fitness choices include Yoga, Personal Training, Spin Classes and lots more and for all ages.
If golf is your game Lake Barrington Shores has a club as does Stonehenge. There is also a public course in Barrington. There’s plenty of roads to ride bikes and for the kiddos in The Enclave, they’ll be well away from main roads and can ride around the neighborhood in relative safety.
Lake Barrington is a Country Suburban Environment
The Enclave of Heritage Estates will allow residents to enjoy peace and tranquility. No doubt you’ll enjoy Mother nature with birds, squirrels, chipmunks, white tailed deer. There are Sand Hill Cranes here from spring through fall and I’ve seen wild turkeys too. Come and take a look at the neighborhood. I’ll give you a guided tour of Lake Barrington.
If there’s anything you need to know that I have not answered, don’t be afraid to give me a call. I have lived in Lake Barrington since 2004.
