What Are Homes Like?
The community offers single family homes in planned unit neighborhoods. Each is on 1 to 2 acres. We also have a gated neighborhood of condos and townhomes set around a 100 acre lake and 18 hole golf course.
Our home styles are Colonial, Traditional, Ranches, Contemporary, and Georgian. This is one of the few areas of the 60010 zip code that has undeveloped land large enough for new subdivisions to be built. Both Enclave at Heritage Estates and Tallgrass have new homes and vacant lots to buy but they are closing out in 2018.
There are very limited waterfront homes but the premium location aside The Fox River may well be worth waiting for! Although not known as equestrian land the odd horse property pops up for sale.
What Schools Do Students Attend?
Our village is served by the Community School District 220. Elementary children will attend Countryside, North Barrington or Roslyn Rd Schools. The middle schools are Station and Prairie Campuses and Barrington High School for seniors.
There is one subdivision that falls in Wauconda School District and that is Lakeland Estates. In addition homes on Anderson Rd that are in the Barrington Zip code of 60010 attend Wauconda school district 118.
District 220 web site has comprehensive information about all it’s schools. You can also search homes by school names but always double check with the administration office as things do change.
Walking Trails & Leisure
The Canlan Sportsplex offers baseball, basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, tot programs, fitness and more, it’s the best location for indoor sports, open year round in our area. Summer camp is something available for kids that get bored during the holidays.
If you like walking, the country trails down by Flint Creek and The Village Hall is the place to go. You can walk, take the dog and feel like you are in the countryside with nothing but nature around you. Be prepared for a climb too, the newest leg of the trails is next to the Fox River and you can climb quite a height for glorious views and leg burning exercise! Watch for all sorts of birds as well as White Tailed Deer and critters. Late in the day or early evening, you might hear the owls.
Citizens For Conservation are located off Route 22 across from the hospital. They offer volunteer learning experiences for all ages.
