Most workers commute about 30 minutes to work. Residents have plenty of shopping choices in Barrington, Lake Zurich, Wauconda along the Rand road corridor. Schools and medical facilities are also closeby.
The Barrington Area Historical Society has documented the first homes at 156 Kimberly (known as the Kimberly House c. 1857), 150 Old Barrington Road (c. 1860) and the Kuhlman House at 615 Miller (c. 1875). The original subdivision in the Honey Lake area was called Biltmore Country Estates and included the Biltmore Country Club. On October 31st 1959, area residents voted to incorporate into the Village of North Barrington.

In 1987 the gated community of Wynstone was a large addition to the community in terms of luxury houses and the golf course. There are 750 acres and 240 acres of that is water. The Wynstone Homeowners Association is responsible for maintaining the neighborhood.

Which Schools do Students Attend?
North Barrington IL is served by Barrington Community School District 220 and Lake Zurich CUSD 95. The dividing line is the township line. Those living in Cuba Township will attend Barrington 220 Schools. Those living in Ela Township attend Lake Zurich Schools. It’s the east part of the village that lies in Ela Township. For further education Lake County College is the closest in Lake County. Harper College is about the same distance away in Cook County. 4 Year colleges are available in Schaumburg and Chicago. There’s no lack of early learning locations in the area, including Montessori.
Golf & Leisure
This residential country suburban village has plenty of outdoor activities. Golfers can join The Biltmore Golf Club or The Wynstone Golf Club. Wynstone Country Club membership fees can be found at their web site or by calling their office. There are other golf courses in the Barrington area. Walkers have no lack of places to hike. Grassy Lake Forest Preserve is the largest open public space. There are two country trail walks, the first is through Leonard Park, the second through the Biltmore Country Club area close to Honey Lake.
Then there are the parks: Eton Park, Lafferty Park, Leonard Park. Eton Park has been developed with two playgrounds, a basketball court and fields for soccer, baseball and softball. A Gazebo was installed in 2000 with tables for picnics. Other parks remain in their natural state.
Honey Lake is a large body of water located in the Biltmore subdivision just across from the Country Club. Residents of Biltmore can use the lake for leisure activities, there is a small beach too. Residents of Biltmore can fish, boat and swim in the lake. It is not a public lake.
The village has a wildlife refuge and Haverton Conservation Area.
In nearby Lake Barrington there is a Canlan Sports Complex. This offers a wide variety of indoor sports and fitness for all age groups.
Shopping & Eating & More
Lake Zurich is the nearest town for cafes and restaurants, fast food too. Barrington village is another choice, Deer Park a little farther away. Kildeer and Deer Park have some great restaurants! Lake Zurich is the nearest larger shopping area with all the big box stores along route 12 (aka Rand Rd), more boutique style stores in the Deer Park Shopping Mall.
