Gone are the days that the homes you see are chosen solely by your Realtor. The mass of homes available are online at one site or another. Buyers can search one or multiple sites to see what’s available. It’s called window shopping and there’s nothing wrong with that!
You can also ask us to send you home listings direct from the MLS, we set up an account for you. It’s important to know that third party sites do not have all the listings. I recommend Realtor.com if you want to do your own searching on a third party site as they are linked to our MLS. You can also search here on this site.
From Window Shopping to Personal Showings
Buyers usually know what they want, so I let you chose the homes you want to see. Far be it for me to ever say you should or should not look at any property. That’s not my job. You let me know which homes you want to tour and I’ll take you there. Always keep an open mind as we view each home. You are unlikely to get everything on your wish list. A good rule of thumb is to achieve 80%. Aim for as high as you can on the must have list. If not you’ll compromise and regret your purchase.
Whether you have all the time in the world or need to find something fast, you’ll likely know when you find the right house. I am there to offer opinions on anything you ask, I can give guidance on the good and bad for re-sale. The amount of help and input you need from me is determined by you.
Maybe you’ll find the perfect home and know right away, maybe you create a short list and want to view those a second time. There aren’t really any rules, your home purchase must be right.
Take The Time To Know Your Decision is Right
Fortunately for us, here in the Barrington area our real estate market is balanced. It’s not crazy as in some parts of the country, where taking a day to think may lose you the house. I cannot say that will never happen but if you need to take some time to think things through then do so.
Buyers remorse is when a buyer has a change of mind. I don’t want that to happen. If you know, really know, and want to make your offer that day, please let me know.
Make Notes If You Need To
Some people have great memory’s others not so good. Feel free to bring a note pad to make notes as you tour each home. Do not bring your camera. You are not permitted to take photos without a sellers permission and it’s not something we seek when booking appointments. Nor is it likely you would get permission. You can always go back to the online photos to jog your memory.
Buyers Due Diligence
Be aware that the information contained in our MLS for any property is not guaranteed. There are many things I can check for you using resources that are available to me and you. For example tax records are available online, school information is best confirmed with district offices. As a buyer it is up to you to do your own due diligence.
