Over the last month I have had several buyers looking at new construction homes in Kildeer and Long Grove so though I better let you all know what’s available. There are a few neighborhoods in this small village that have new homes under construction or builders ready to build your custom dream home on any of the available lots. There are a few new subdivisions in Kildeer you might consider. Prices start at around $800,000 and for a price tag of 1.1 million you’ll get a very nice spacious home with brick and stone exterior and modern layouts with laundry rooms upstairs.
There are several builders with a presence in Kildeer. Over the last 15 years or so there have been some neighborhood additions to Kildeer providing a good selection of homes now built from 2000 onwards. Some are still building new developments although there is not a lot of land left for new subdivisions.

If you want to design and build your custom dream house, many of the neighborhoods recently built still have lots available to buy. Some are advertised with agents others are available direct from the builders. The typical lot size in Kildeer is 1 to 2 acres. Lot sizes on each subdivision will conform to what’s already there. I am a lover of 1 acre or more. It gives you space for a substantial new home and good separation from your neighbors, yet provides the country atmosphere we love here and a neighborhood feel as well.
Many lots will require you to have both a private well for water and septic system. Some new subdivisions are on public waste systems, private wells for water.
There are plenty of home builders you can choose from. I have contacts with several in the area but you can also search custom home builders near me to find a few to interview. I recommend talking to 2 or 3 to see if they can design the type of house you dream of. Builders often have architects they like working with, but again you can search and find your own. A great place to start with a truly custom home is online with a plan provider. It can spark a few ideas about what you want in a house.

When thinking about buying a home, new or already built, you should never expect to get everything. Even in a custom designed new home it’s likely you’ll need to compromise on something. We all dream big but usually have to settle for less. Your new home search should have a list of things you want. Be prepared to give up a little to get a lot. Whether it’s square footage because your budget cannot quite stretch that far, or as many bathrooms, maybe a garage stall, or even lot size or location. Prioritize and let go what’s not critical. At the end you’ll have a gorgeous new house!
Basements are not commonly finished when looking at new homes for sale, or when you hire a builder to build for you. However it’s usually cheaper to have them finished at the same time as the build. Contractors are on site, materials are readily available. So consider your basement at the same time. It’ll be less hassle now than later. If you end up selling within 7 years, which is the average turn time for a house, you’ll be steps ahead of your competition. Buyers love finished basements! Plus you’ll have instant extra living space. Consider another bedroom and bathroom for your basement.
