REALTORS in Barrington IL are in plentiful supply, but we are like chalk and cheese. You might think we all do the same things and in general we do, we all sell real estate. However that is where it ends.
No I am not talking about our gender or age or even heritage, I am talking about what we do as Realtors in our businesses on a day to day, week by week, month by month and even yearly basis. So what do I mean by that? Here are some things to think about?
- Do all Realtors in Barrington IL work full time?
- Do they all live in the community?
- Do they all work with both buyers and sellers?
Those are 3 quite fundamental questions, but it goes a lot deeper than that.
Let’s look at Realtors and Technology
Most Realtors in Barrington IL now use Smartphones. Not because we are Realtors but because nearly everyone has one these days. The question is how do they use them in their business?
- Does your Barrington Realtor use it for text messaging?
- Can your Realtor receive and reply to emails?
- Is your Realtor able to access your entire file with their smart phone? Is it protected there? Or is your Realtor an old school paper person?
Technology does not set us apart, it’s how we use it that can.
- Does your Realtor use Docusign or other digital signing software? In my book this is a must, it saves all those faxed blurry contracts that loan officers complain about. For out of town buyers and sellers it makes contract signing and changes a breeze.
- What about websites? Most Realtors in Barrington IL have a web site but does it serve any purpose other than to say they have one. A web site without traffic is pointless.
- Social media. Anyone can sign up for a profile but social media is about sharing. If I had 20 social media profiles can I really network all day using all of them? Not a chance. I pick the three I like the best. I have good connections and followers from those three. I also do not have all day to chit chat, so 3 is enough!
Realtors in Barrington IL with a Blog
It’s the age of the internet and the internet is used all day long for research. You do, I do it. How many Realtors in Barrington IL have a blog that they write articles on a consistent basis?
My blog is the perfect way to educate you about all things real estate. It helps my clients and yes, although not the purpose for it, I end up educating other Realtors too.
Personalities of Barrington’s Realtors
Whether or not personalities factor into selling commodities, i.e. real estate, is a matter of constant debate. An example of that debate: Aggressive behaviors may be deemed to be necessary in contract negotiations. Really! I personally don’t think so. Negotiations are strategic, aggressive behavior in my book never helps in what is an attempt to get a meeting of minds. Aggression often creates ill feeling.
Educated negotiation is the best start for your strategy.
Personalities should be more about connecting with a Realtor who is similar to you or of a personality that you like. This may depend on how much support you are looking to get. The more support you need the better the relationship needs to be. This is why I highly recommended all buyers and sellers interview multiple Realtors. It’s a two way street too. At the same time we should be considering you in that interview and whether we feel we can do the job you need. You must feel you can start to trust us from day one. If there are doubts at the start, you better believe it will not get better.
Realtors that represent buyers will undoubtedly have different personalities to those that represent sellers. For example, my personality is very well suited to all buyers. I know it’s not well suited to sellers of high end properties. But I know someone who is perfect for that job and I refer my high end listings to her because her personality suits them much better. At the end of the day it’s about getting the right Realtor for the job and personality can factor in quite a lot.
The definition of these Realtors is simply that they do anything they wish to do. Help buyers, sellers, renters, landlords, even commercial. They are likely to go far wider in geographic territory and they simply help you buy, sell or rent real estate.
This type of agent is focusing in on a smaller area or type of real estate. Examples; buyers agent only, luxury homes agent, working with active adults, horse property specialist, waterfront homes expert, condo agent, downsizing, moving up, international buyers, relocation, or limited geographic area, to name just a few.
As business owners we must be careful not to limit our specialties too much or we won’t transact enough business to survive. Those Realtors that specialize in one or more areas are likely to do a better job because they have both more knowledge and more experience at their chosen niches.
Which would you prefer? Generalist or Specialist? Do you consider there may be a difference in service received.
Realtors in Barrington IL can specialize – Corinne Does!
I focus my personal marketing and continued training in the clients I prefer to work with. Those are buyers, relocation and absentee owner sales. Buyers and relocation match well with both my personal experience, passion and skill sets. Absentee sales also match with my property management experience.
I’ve long thought of myself as the buyers matchmaker, finding the perfect home for my buyers based on their wants and needs and of course budget.
Let Me Answer Your Questions:
Q. How long have you been in real estate? 10 years as of 2014.
Q. Did you have any previous experience. Yes I spent 10+ years working for a mortgage company and underwriting mortgage loans. I was also a customer service manager and I know that helps in this industry.
Q. What is your preferred client? I love working with all buyers. Every buyer gets the same top notch service from me and as much hand holding as you need. I have been gifted with the patience it sometimes takes to get from start to end.
Q. What do you offer your preferred client that is lacking with other Realtors? Oh that’s easy! You don’t get left at the Alter. I hear so many complaints about Realtors getting a contract signed and then not being involved at all except to show up at closing. That’s so not my style. I am involved in the process from start to finish, as much as you need me to be. I am the one person always here to advise, guide, assist you during and after you close. Your purchase is very important to me, I want you to be happy, Cheshire Cat smiling happy!
Q. What locations do you work? I prefer anything in Barrington. It’s my home town and what I know best. I recognize that some buyers need to look in other areas, so I also serve Barrington’s neighboring communities as there is some crossover in property types.
Q. Who do you work for? Actually I work for you. If you mean which company do I work under, well it’s my own, Barrington Realty Company. It seemed a fitting name considering 90% of my business is selling Barrington homes.
Q. What do you do in your free time? It’s mostly family stuff, although now my kids are getting to the point of fleeing the nest, that may free up more time. I once renovated a home with my husband and would love to have another go. I love watching golf on the TV, who knows one day maybe I’ll have enough time to learn to play.
Q. Can you help me? It depends. Let me know what you would like help with and I’ll be in touch right away. Just fill in the easy contact form below. Or give me a call at 847-363-3686.
